Paul Gascoigne ist der fußballerische Inbegriff des englischen Chaoten zwischen Genie und Wahnsinn. Auf und neben dem Platz polarisierte er durch seine exzentrische Art die Szene – großartige sportliche Fähigkeiten und Momente wurden gepaart mit Alkoholeskapaden und charmanten Spirenzien, die der Ruhm so mit sich bringt. So kam es nicht von ungefähr, dass Paul Gascoigne auch die Chance, sich im Musikgeschäft zu verewigen, nicht ungenutzt ließ. 1990 rappte er zusammen mit der Band Lindisfarne den Titeltrack des 1971 erschienenen Albums „Fog on the tyne“. Die überarbeitete Version schaffte wohl vor allem dank der Kooperation der Band mit „Gazza“ Gascoigne Platz 2 der UK Single Charts und ist als Zuckerstück der 90er Jahre für unsere Reihe der singenden Fußballstars, die wir immer sonntags in den Fokus rücken, unentbehrlich.
